Omicron starts Serial Production of Direct green Diode Lasers

With the new 515nm laser diodes, Omicron-Laserage Laserprodukte GmbH in Rodgau developed a new generation of unique diode lasers for all applications.

Rodgau/Frankfurt (mas) – By announcing the first 515nm diode laser, Omicron is setting the trend in the green wavelength range.
This new wavelength is the first choice especially for biotechnological applications. Compared with conventional Argon gas lasers and DPSS lasers the new diode lasers offer numerous advantages. With the fast direct analog modulation up to 500 Megahertz, opto-acoustic modulators are not needed any more. Thereby, Omicron diode lasers with 515nm are smaller in size and more cost-effective. Further they stand out with a better power efficiency, having an optical output power of 25mW while input power is only five watt for Luxx diode lasers, and therefore have a longer life time. Another significant feature of the Omicron diode lasers in the new wavelength range is the system readiness in less than two minutes. Moreover, the innovative Omicron optics are able to compensate astigmatism whereby not only the beam with a diameter of about 1.1 millimeter 1/e² is absolutely round, but also the focus itself.
Merging the typical laser components of the Omicron products with this wavelength generates sensational new possibilities. In combination with the spectacular Omicron “Deepstar”, a diode laser with almost infinite modulation depth (>2.500.000:1), the application of the 515nm diode leads to unrivaled results. Especially developed for biotechnology, the laser series Luxx and Phoxx with the new 515nm diode will mainly replace DPSS lasers with the same wavelength. Thus the Omicron products Sole Light Engine and Light Hub Beam Combiner will be complemented optimally. The new wavelength 515nm is available for all Omicron laser models with immediate effect.
