Laser Polygon Projector

Laser Polygon Projector

Laser-assisted alignment and positioning

The laser projector is a further development of remote-controlled laser projectors and is used for the projection of 2-D contours by means of a diode-pumped, solid-state laser. With the “flexible light template”, the projector supports production sequences for many industrial sectors.

The laser beam is moved with such a high speed in two directions (X, Y), that a stationary, two-dimensional image is observed. The built-in “real-time” computer calculates the optimal sweep rate for every projected “frame”. The most varied of materials, such as textiles, wood, steel, concrete, leather and so forth can serve as a plane of projection. Lines, circles and arcs can be represented, which were formerly generated in a program for the generation of HPGL files.

Application
Projection laser systems are finding widespread application in industry and crafts for the alignment and positioning of work pieces. With the aid of these precise laser images, a great number of work operations can be optimized and simplified. Laser systems can also be employed for quality control. The Omicron Laser Projection system works as a classical plotter and can project the plotter format (HPGL). In addition, further data formats, as well as special formats, can be implemented customer-specific. If necessary, several systems can also be switched in series, in order to cover a large working area or several workstations.

Fields of application

– Medical technology (patient positioning)
– Textile leather goods industry
– Prefabricated concrete construction
– Rubber and plastic processing
– Aircraft, motor vehicle and mold construction
– Metal processing
– Paper manufacture and processing
– Packaging industry
– Stone, glass and ceramics processing
– Labeling and advertising technology
– Measurement technology and quality assurance
– Wood cutouts

Software

The software is a laser projection software for plot files in the format HPGL. The loaded displays can be adapted individually in regard to size position, direction, image refresh rate and scanning properties and stored as a so-called 'work set' on hard disk (or flash memory). The projection of the different graphics can be remote-controlled via an external relay contact e.g. through a PLC.
Using a set-up matrix, the projection display can be adapted to every work area. The program control is protected through an authorization system with password entry.
